Historic South Carolina South Carolina climate
Low Country seasons weather
From Hilton Head in the south to Myrtle Beach in the north you will find plenty of warm sunny days all year round.

Beach Weather
For sun lovers May through September and even October will provide you with that all important tanning weather plus water temperatures to suit those who fancy a dip in the Ocean.

Average temperatures
The hottest periods are July and August where the temperature is fixed firmly in the 90°s F and humidity is high. Winter and Spring temperatures can vary but from May until October you can almost guarantee mid 80°s F upwards.

Unlike the UK the temperature tends to build up during the day and probably peaks around 6pm.

Current Weather
Golfing weather
In a perfect world it would be 75° and sunny everyday in the South Carolina Low Country . It certainly has more than its' fair share of perfect days each year.

Clear blue skies and moderate winter temperatures together with out of season flights, accommodation and golf rates make mid November to mid March a great favourite with UK golfers looking for a winter break.

We spend 5 months a year in the Low Country area and love it's all year round golfing weather. Since 1995 we have spent time in January, February, March, April, May, June, September, November and December.

For perfect golfing weather most people look to mid March to mid May and also October but guess what – the golf is more expensive as a result!

Green fee guide

Harbourtown at Hilton Head and Ocean Course at Kiawah not included as they are much more expensive than most courses
and would have distorted the 'highest green fee figures'.

Winter golf is stunning in the Carolinas with the brown dormant bermuda providing a stark contrast against the green of the greens and fairways with the autumn colours providing a colourful background.
From later spring through October green is the colour with thicker rough and lush fairways and vegatation the courses have a quite different feel to the winter.
Winter temperatures can fluctuate radically between 40° and 75°. However, in December an average day would normally be 45° early morning rising to around 65° by midday.
