Signature and Glens groups
An impressive list of courses offering a lot of variety and outstanding value with a number of specials available.
Brunswick Plantation – Newly renovated with new greens and bunkering. A resort style 27 hole layout, the Magnolia course has several water holes to test your skill, and some heavily mounded and bunkered holes which are tough but fair. The Azalea course offers a beautiful and serene setting. The island green signature hole is sure to be a challenge. The Dogwood course is more open but provides a good test of golf.
Carolina National – A Fred Couples signature course, Carolina National is a certified Audubon wildlife sanctuary and quite simply it is stunning. Visually there can be few courses to match the views. The three nines are aptly named Egret, Heron and Ibis and it is that closeness with nature that stands out. Set along the Lockwood Folly River with marsh views combined with beautiful woodlands it is a joy to play.
Woodland Valley – This is quite simply one of the best golf courses we have played anywhere. A stunning natural setting with some outstanding golf holes make this a pleasure to play. A serious test off the back tees but playable for golfers of all abilities with forward tees making the course play much shorter. A friendly welcome is guaranteed.
Glen Dornoch – Breathtaking scenery is part of the package when you visit Glen Dornoch. Since it opened in 1996 it has challenged and charmed golfers in equal measure. Regularly voted the toughest course in the area and the brutal par 4 16th has no equal as the most difficult hole. The 17th is a stunning par 3 across the marsh with a high bank guarding the right side pitted with bunkers, wonderful hole.
Heather Glen – This 27 hole facility has been a favourite of visitors to the area since 1987 when it opened. Inspired by traditional scottish courses the natural beauty of each hole provides plenty of interest and fun and the excellent service and clubhouse facilities keep golfers coming back year after year.
Indigo Creek – A huge variety of holes including a very tight first 6 holes make this a good and enjoyable test of golf. Not long but several short dogleg par 4s makes this more of a positional test. Always in excellent condition it offers great value and is a course that many people, including us, come back to play over and over again.
Lockwood Folly – Beautifully secluded Lockwood Folly winds its way through hardwood forests and presents golfers with many challenges with tight doglegs, water hazards and waste areas providing an interested and varied test. An open section in the middle of the layout adds to the variety. The pick of the holes is probably the par 3 second hole across a marsh to a raised green which slopes towards you, off the back tee it is a very intimidating tee shot. Golfers of all abilities are bound to enjoy this picturesque course.
Possum Trot – An excellent traditional tree lined layout with many outstanding holes. its central location makes it a popular choice with visiting golfers. Possum Trot Golf Club also offers some of the best practice facilities in the Myrtle Beach area. A driving range, short game range, large practice bunker, and huge putting green at the Golf Training Center will get your game in shape in no time.
The Pearl East and West – Two fantastic courses with a wonderful variety of holes and some stunning views of the salt marshes.

The West has an interesting mix of open, almost links style, holes and woodland hoels while both courses have spectacular finishes along the marsh.

Prestwick Country Club – Possibly the toughest course in the area. This Pete and P.B. Dye design has everything. Dramatic elevation changes, narrow tree lined holes, wide open links style holes, water hazards, deep bunkering and waste areas and of course those trademark railway sleepers. Elegant clubhouse with fine dining, excellent practice facilities.
River's Edge – Arnold Palmer design with breathtaking marsh views and some seriously difficult holes. Not least the awesome par 5 9th hole which has ruined many a good card. Some great and testing par 3s as well as two dramatic finishing holes running alongside the marshland bordering the Shalotte river. The aforementioned par 5 9th hole and par 4 18th with its stadium style green.
Shaftesbury Glen – Clyde Johnston has created a unique modern design with elevated greens and dramatic bunkering surrounding some of the best Bent grass greens in the area. A glance at a map will look like it is out of the way but it is just 10 minutes from the heart of Restaurant Row, via the Conway Bypass (highway 22), South on Highway 905.
Tradition Club – Tradition is a lovely tree-lined course with a great variety of holes. The immaculate playing conditions all year round make this one of our favourite places to play. Water comes into play on several holes including the island green par 3 shown here and the island green par 4 7th hole. Not a long course but there are one or two long par fours which are testing.
Wicked Stick – A John Daly signature course. The first few holes provide plenty of room to 'grip it 'n' rip it' in true Daly fashion. There are some testing back tees (the Daly tees) for low handicappers with some testing carries. Always in outstanding condition, a warm welcome awaits, sand and water provide the hazards and fun is had by all!

Wachesaw East – Set on the site of an old rice plantation this excellent Clyde Johnston layout winds its way through the Carolina forests providing golfers with a serious test. The elevation changes, mounding, streams and strategically placed bunkers and waste areas make this a shot makers course. Put it in the wrong place and getting up and down wil ltest you to the limit. Wachesaw East has hosted four LPGA tournaments from 1997 - 2000.
Bald Head Island is a seaside masterpiece recently ranked #12 course in the Myrtle Beach area.

7 holes stretch across rolling dunes overlooking the ocean. The course also winds through a maritime forest and wraps around 15 freshwater lagoons. Architect George Cobb left much of the land the way he found it – carved by wind and water. The ocean wind always plays a role in club selection.

Heron Point – a very tight tree-lined course with plenty of doglegs and water in play on several holes including the very testing par 5 9th and 18th holes.

It is a very enjoyable course to play, not very long but with such narrow fairways it takes a brave (or foolhardy) man to hit driver all the way round.

Water is in play on a few holes but mostly the trees provide the major obstacle to a good score.
