The main places to get up close with nature are on the oceanfront where you will find plenty of sea birds including the brown pelican and if you are lucky you might get a glimpse of a dolphin or two. Golf courses are also great places to view the local wildlife.
Alligator Adventure
Located adjacent to Barefoot Landing in North Myrtle Beach Alligator Adventure is one of the largest facilities for reptile life in the world. You will be guided through natural swamps and marshes, where you’ll encounter an array of reptiles, lizards, turtles, giant frogs, and exotic birds from around the world.

Also at Barefoot Landing is the seasonal attraction – Preservation Station T.I.G.E.R.S. which showcases rare species of tigers. You can get your picture taken with a tiger cub or a chimpanzee. The animals are brought daily, usually around 5pm, from there nearby preserve.

Although expensive it is also possible to visit the animals at the preserve.

Ripleys Aquarium
South Carolina's most visited attraction located at Broadway at the Beach. A 87,000 square foot world class marine life facility fostering environmental education, conservation, and research, while simultaneously providing entertainment for visitors of all ages.

Travel through Dangerous Reef, a 750,000 gallon tank, on the world's longest 330 ft moving glidepath. Other features include Ray Bay, highlighting a variety of rays from multiple viewing levels and Friendship Flats, where you can touch Atlantic, Southern, Cow-Nose, Spotted Eagle Rays and Bonnet-Head sharks. View thousands of brilliantly coloured Pacific fishes from Hawaii, Australia and the Indian Ocean.
The freshwater Rio Amazon exhibit showcases piranha and other exotic species unique to the Amazon rain forest. A collection of delicate undersea life such as Pacific Giant Octopus, sea anemones, living corals, jellies and weedy sea dragons are featured as art in The Living Gallery. The Schooling Fish Tank, a 10- foot cylindrical exhibit, is home to a unique array of different species of fish native to South Carolina's coastal waters.

Many of the golf courses have managed to retain incumbent wildlife but of course you will be there to play golf!

Wildlife attractions include Alligator Adventure at Barefoot Landing and Ripley's Aquarium at Broadway at the Beach.
