Historic Charleston
As one of the oldest cities in the USA, with a rich history that takes in the Revolutionary War and US Civil War there is so much to see and do when you visit Charleston so if you are planning a golf holiday you may want to leave a few days free to experience this wonderful city.

Downtown Charleston is very compact so you can explore much that the city has to offer on foot. Shopping, dining, historic houses and the waterfront are all within a few minutes walk of our featured downtown hotels. There are a number of historic homes which run daily tours or you can simply walk the streets and take in the elegant architecture before stopping in at one of the many restaurants and bars for a spot of lunch. Be sure to check out our favourite lunch venue, ’82 Queen’.

Outside the city there are a number of historical attractions. Along a short stretch of the Ashley River Road, perhaps 20 minutes or so outside the city centre you will find Drayton Hall, Magnolia Plantation, which incorporates the Audubon Swamp Garden and Middleton Place.

Just north of Charleston, off Highway 17, is Boone Hall Plantation which was used for the TV mini series North & South.

Charleston has plenty of military history so be sure to check out Fort Sumter, site of the opening shots in the US Civil War, and the Naval War Museum at Patriot’s Point which features a World War II aircraft carrier. You can take a tour to Fort Sumter from Patriot’s Point so you can comfortably take in both attractions in a day.

We offer accommodation in Downtown hotels as well as beach and golf resorts at Wild Dunes on Isle of Palms and nearby Kiawah Island Resort so be sure to check out our accommodation page for more information.

Kiawah Island
Around 40 minutes from Downtown Charleston is the beautiful resort island of Kiawah, home to the world famous Ocean Course. Check out our Kiawah pages for details of golf packages to this stunning destination.
